ARTIST STATEMENT

“My passions are the art of orchestration and study of aesthetics in traditional and contemporary languages. I believe melody is an integral part of the musical language and this is a core component of the music I compose.”

Emilia Tamburri is an American Composer and Educator.

A graduate of The Juilliard School (MM) and New England Conservatory (BM), Emilia’s award-winning music has been recorded, commissioned, and performed worldwide, including at Lincoln Center, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory, Montclair State University, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, and Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany. She has arranged and composed music for orchestra, choir, and chamber groups, including The Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, One World Symphony, and Grace Church Choir. Emilia received awards from The American Prize, ASCAP, Progressive Musicians, and New England Conservatory, and was supported by the Irene Diamond Fellowship to attend The Juilliard School. Her primary teachers include Samuel Adler, Robert Beaser, Lee Hyla, and Robert Aldridge. Emilia teaches composition and orchestration in New York, NY. She is also a multi-instrumentalist, long distance runner, and human rights activist.
